On average a total of 264 million people watch the NFL every week, that is almost two thirds of Americans that watch football. In the NFL players are constantly getting injured. Some injuries are big some are small. Some small injuries are cuts, broken fingers, or rolled ankles. Some big injuries are broken legs or arms, concussions, or even broken necks and backs. This is important because some people may argue that football is even too dangerous to watch. Even though football could lead people to having long term injuries, it should be ok for people to watch because it is a sport  that people love, getting injured is a risk the players take, and the NFL is trying to put a stop to those injuries. Football is America’s favorite sport and that is why lots of people will continue to watch it.

To start with, Americans love to watch football. The article titled ¨”why do Americans love to watch football¨ says¨ football is a sport that involves cheating, drugs, and a immense amount of violence yet it is the number one grossing sport in America.¨ One key fact to explain that Americans love football is it is a very dirty sport yet it is Americas fastest growing sport. This is essential information that explains that Americans love football even if it is a dirty sport. Another important idea from the article titled ¨why do Americans love football so much¨ illustrates that football captures tons of Americans interests every year. This is a key detail that explains America’s love for football. There is a need to realize that Americans love to watch football. These examples support the value of football to Americans.

Secondly, the NFL is  trying to stop the concussions. The article titled ¨NFL Changes Concussion Protocol¨ says ¨several changes to the NFL’s concussion safety protocol including requiring the presence of an unaffiliated neurotrauma consultant  at the league command center for all games.¨” One important piece of information to show that it should be ok to watch football is that the NFL is trying to prevent concussions. This means that the NFL doesn’t want players to keep getting concussions. This matters to show that the NFL is trying to keep players from getting concussions. Another important idea from the article titled ¨New NFL Rules Designed to Limit Head Injuries¨ illustrates that the referees are responsible to call head to head calls to prevent concussions. This is a key detail that illustrates that the referees have to call head to head calls to prevent concussions. This also matters to show the NFL’s effort to stop those head injuries. These examples support the NFL’s effort toward stopping head injuries.

In addition, it should be ok to watch football because getting injured is a risk that the players take. The article titled ¨Injuries Happen in Sports Especially Football but NFL This Year Can’t  be Overlooked¨ supports the importance of knowing that the players are  a risk in the NFL. The article uses facts to describe that the players in the NFL are aware of the risk of getting injured that they take every game. One crucial piece of information to support that Getting injured is a risk that the players take is ¨athletes get knicks, cuts, bruises, and much worse in the name of competition the risk is part of their jobs.¨This  means that when players sign with a team they are taking the risk of getting injured. This matters because it is important to know that the players are aware that they are taking the risk of getting injured. Another important idea from the article illustrates that the NFL is educating guys on the risks they are taking by stating ¨today we are fully educating guys on the risks and they are still playing.¨ This is a key detail that explains that players are being fully educated of the risks they are taking. This matters because if the players are being educated of the risks then they cant say they didn’t know about them.

Those reasons that I stated in the paragraphs above are why I think it should be ok to watch football. The reasons why are that the nfl is trying to stop injuries, getting injured is a risk the players take, and football is America’s favorite sport. I think that if the players do not want to get hurt then they should not play football. Football is a sport of injuries and if you don’t like that don’t play it.
